What Happens After You Send a Message

We get the message and respond within a business day, usually within a few hours during business hours. We'll either reply by email or call you back, whichever you indicate as your preference.

The response includes scheduling a drop-off time that works for both of us, plus any preliminary thoughts on what might be going on based on what you described. Some problems we can identify approximately from a description; for most we need to see the machine to give a real diagnosis.

From there, you bring the computer in at the scheduled time. Drop-off takes 10-15 minutes. We discuss the symptoms in more detail, take down your contact information, give you a realistic timeline, and you're on your way. We do the diagnostic, call you with what we found and what it would cost, and you decide whether to proceed.

Quick Answers Before You Call

Do I need to remove my files first?

No. Bring the computer as-is. We don't go through your files for fun, we're experienced with handling private data appropriately, and most repair work doesn't involve us looking at your personal documents anyway. If you have specific privacy concerns, mention them at drop-off and we'll work with your preferences.

Should I bring the charger?

Yes, please. We need to be able to power the machine during diagnostic and repair. Bring the original power adapter if you have it.

Do I need to know my passwords?

For Windows, knowing your login password is helpful. If BitLocker is enabled (common on Windows 11), the BitLocker password or recovery key may be required for some work. For Mac, your local user password is needed if FileVault is enabled. We don't need your Apple ID, Microsoft account, banking, or other passwords.

Should I back up first?

If you can, yes, that's always a good idea before any computer work. If you can't (the machine won't boot or you're not sure how), don't worry; we handle data carefully and most repairs don't involve any data risk.

How do I find your shop?

The address is 656 North French Road, Suite 2, Buffalo, NY 14228. Coming from the I-290, take exit 4 (North French Road) and head west. Coming from Niagara Falls Boulevard, North French Road runs east-west and crosses the Boulevard. The building has parking right at the entrance. We're in Suite 2.

What if I'm running late?

Call us. We can usually accommodate a few minutes of delay, but if you're going to be significantly late, it's better to reschedule than to throw off the day's appointments. We try to be flexible with customers who let us know in advance.

Can I bring multiple computers in one appointment?

Yes, just mention how many at scheduling so we can plan time accordingly. Multi-machine drop-offs from the same household or business are common.

What if I have a question that isn't covered here?

Call us. Most questions are easier to answer in conversation than over email, and we're happy to talk through your situation before you commit to bringing the machine in. The conversation is free and often saves time.

Where We Are

The shop is at 656 North French Road in Buffalo, NY 14228, in Suite 2. North French Road is a main east-west road in the Amherst / Tonawanda area, running between Sheridan Drive and the I-290. Coming from the south (Buffalo), take I-290 east and exit at North French. Coming from the east (Williamsville, Clarence), take I-290 west or Maple Road. Coming from the north (Tonawanda, Wheatfield), take Niagara Falls Boulevard south and turn east on North French.

The shop is convenient from a wide range of nearby neighborhoods. UB North Campus students and faculty find us a five-minute drive away. The Boulevard Mall and surrounding shopping district is similarly close. Williamsville Village is about ten minutes east. Tonawanda neighborhoods are about ten minutes north. Kenmore is fifteen minutes southwest. From central Buffalo, count on twenty to twenty-five minutes depending on traffic.

Parking is right at the building. The shop entrance is clearly marked. Inside, we have a small intake area where the drop-off conversation happens, plus the work area where the actual repair happens (which is back-of-house and not part of customer flow). The whole intake takes 10-15 minutes typically.
