• Do you work on Apple Silicon Macs as well as Intel Macs?

  Both, every day. Apple Silicon Macs are the M-series machines Apple has shipped since late 2020; Intel Macs are everything before that, and plenty of them are still in daily use and still worth maintaining. The two architectures behave differently enough that experience with one does not automatically transfer to the other, which is exactly why we keep working on both rather than quietly steering people toward whichever is easier.

  What changes between them is mostly what is possible. On an Intel Mac, storage and memory are often replaceable, recovery tooling is more flexible, and a failed drive can frequently be pulled and read on another machine. On Apple Silicon, storage is part of the logic board, memory is unified and soldered, and recovery from a dead machine is a very different conversation. We will tell you which situation you are in before you commit to anything.

• Are you an Apple Authorized Service Provider?

  No, and we would rather say so plainly than let it be assumed. We are an independent repair shop. That means we cannot perform in-warranty work billed to Apple, and if your Mac is still under warranty or covered by AppleCare, taking it to Apple or an authorized provider first is usually the right financial move. We will tell you that rather than take the job.

  Where an independent shop is genuinely useful is out-of-warranty work: older Macs, upgrades on machines that support them, data recovery, virus and malware cleanup, and the fix-or-replace conversation where you want an opinion from someone who is not selling you the next machine. We do not sell hardware, so that advice has nothing riding on it.

• Can you upgrade the storage or memory in my Mac?

  It depends entirely on the model and the year, and the honest answer is that the window for Mac upgrades has been closing for a decade. Macs from roughly 2008 to 2012 are broadly upgradeable, with standard drives and memory slots. Models from about 2013 to 2015 often use Apple-specific blade SSDs that can still be replaced with the right part. From 2016 to 2019 it varies sharply by model. Every Apple Silicon Mac has storage and unified memory soldered to the logic board, and no shop can upgrade those.

• I forgot my Mac password. Can you get me back in?

  Sometimes, and it depends on how the account is protected. A straightforward forgotten local password on a Mac without full-disk encryption is often recoverable. A Mac with FileVault enabled, where nobody has the password, the recovery key, or access to the linked Apple ID, is a different matter: FileVault is doing exactly what it was designed to do, and there is no back door for us any more than for anyone else.

• My Mac will not turn on. Is my data gone?

  Usually not, and a Mac that will not power on is one of the more common reasons people arrive expecting the worst. A machine that appears dead can be a power issue, a display issue, a storage failure, or a logic board problem, and those have very different outcomes for your files. The diagnostic is what separates them.

  On Intel Macs a failed system with a healthy drive is often straightforward to read. On Apple Silicon, because storage is bound to the logic board, a dead board is a harder problem and honesty matters more, not less. • How long does Mac work usually take?

  Most jobs run one to three business days, and the variable is almost never the work itself. Parts availability, how far a data recovery has to go, and how badly a machine was infected all stretch a timeline. An iMac takes longer than a MacBook for anything involving the drive because the display is adhered to the chassis and has to come off and be resealed.
